Surprise! Nigel's 30th B'day Party

Despite ash from the Icelandic volcano disrupting the travel of over 1 million people, Nigel's Surprise 30th B'Day went off without a hitch!

He was truly surprised - so much so when he walked in with PJ and we yelled SURPRISE he turned around and asked PJ 'is today your birthday?'

I was stressing the first part of the night because Nig was making his way over and his friends were yet to arrive. I couldn't have him walk into a surprise party filled with my friends only. Finally the Kiwi's showed up and I was able to calm down slightly. It turned out to be a great celebration at the massive Porterhouse Bar in Covent Garden. The bar is not the best in customer service; I found myself acting as the waitress and the bus boy, but we were able to carry around a 6 foot cut out of Nigel in a bunny suit throughout the bar with very little harassment.

Nig loved his gifts - a photo collage with b'day wishes from his family and friends. Who knew he'd love thousands of photos of himself? I definitely did ;) I thought he'd suffer a tinge of embarrassment with the bunny cut out but he actually loved it beyond belief. He even loved when 3 unknown (rhymes with BORES) decided to take lurid photos in front of it. Apparently 23 yr old Nigel never received so much action.

We capped off the evening with a dance-a-thon at Bungalow 8 with Navin, Kate & the dance machine himself Craig M. Any DJ that can turn a straight bar into the awesome rocking tunes of a gay bar is all right with me.
