After years of living live squatters Nigel and his flatmate Shaun decided it was time to renovate their flat. A little backstory - when I first visited him in London he told me that ALL London flats were run down and shabby so when I saw his run down and shabby apartment I thought it was just part of the norm. They do weird things in Europe, so who was I to judge. But after spending sometime in other London flats, I realized that was not the case. There are some pretty nice flats in London, Nigel's flat just wasn't one of them. Since I've been staying here relatively rent free, I decided it was time to push them into some renovations (Nigel thinks this all happened differently btw). Any way, after my subtle pushing, the boys spent four 12-13 hour days over Easter Weekend (only stopping to congratulate themselves on being men who work with their hands and eating and drinking ciders) renovating their flat. They painted all 3 bdrms, the lounge, hallway, kitchen and bath, and are getting new carpets and new furniture (expenses paid for by their landlady) and now it looks pretty great. The landlady was more than happy to fit the bill on their little project because more and more people are leaving London because of the bad economy so its better for a owner to fork over some cash for an upgrade then to find your flat empty. Undoubtedly, I inspired this whole endeavor so the boys are very welcome. And, don't think I didn't have to help in this little weekend full of work. Who do you think went out and got the food and the beers?
I will send photos when the flat has completed it's transformation from Duck to Swan.

Manly men indeed! They have seriously done a ton of work! That's awesome the landlady is footing the bill. I'm looking forward to seeing the Swan pics; I bet the place will look fantastic. And they'll owe it all to you, of course :)
