Over this past Easter Weekend, I visited Sahana in Notting Hill while she was housesitting. We got really great Paella on Portobello Road then went to the actual Travel Book Shop that Hugh Grant's character owned in the movie. Again, I was disappointed that Hugh was not there to service all my bookshop needs, but I did love the visit. In 1998, the writer and director of the movie Richard Curtis, lived around the bookshop in Notting Hill and asked the store owner (who is a lady not a hunky Hugh Grant) to use her store for the set of his movie. The bookshop has underwent an extreme makeover celebrity edition in the 10 years since the movie debuted. It's massive in there now and the shop owner is more than happy to publicize the movie. I think she just cashes her checks and lives in Spain and hasn't been there all year.
Come to Notting Hill, visit the coffee shop, the travel bookstore and help me look for Hugh Grant. I LOVE HIM.
xoxo,
N
