A couple of weekends ago Nig & I went to the Annual Oxford/Cambridge Boat Race. The race is between the rowing clubs of the two schools and was started by best friends who attended each school back in 1829. It's been held annually since 1856 (except for the 2 World Wars) and is raced every spring on The River Thames. Nigel's apt is very close to the River so we took a short walk and joined the crowd to watch the race. The whole experience is like riding a roller coaster because you wait for hours for the event to start (luckily there is food and drink all around) then it's over in seconds. The race is a little under 5 miles and finishes in Chiswick. It's really just another reason for Britons to get together in Pubs or parks to drink and socialize. Oh & the score is Cambridge 79 - Oxford 75, with Oxford winning this year.

The "Chocolate Festival" was held on the Southbank and although it was really just a couple of stands selling chocolate it was worth the trip out to the bank. The Southbank is where most of the summer festivals are held because the view from the water is beautiful and there are tons of restaurant all around the river. Nigel really enjoyed his milkshake and I enjoyed getting as many free samples as allowed.
